Every SUPERYOU protein wafer goes through rigorous tests at multiple stages of production. From purity to safety to nutritional value, every detail is scrutinized.

You might not read this page in its entirety, and you may never know the care that goes into every wafer. But that’s the point—we do it because it matters, even when no one is looking.

Here’s a breakdown of our processes:

(1) Raw Material Testing

- Quality Control Approval: Every ingredient (raw material) used in our protein wafers is rigorously tested before production. Our Quality Control (QC) team evaluates ingredients for purity, moisture levels, and other critical specifications as per FSSAI. This helps maintain the consistency and safety of the end product. The manufacturer also stores all details in the log books. 

(2) Packaging Quality Checks

- Seal Integrity and Leak Testing: Our packaging undergoes leak tests to confirm that each wafer is properly sealed. This protects freshness and prevents contamination during transport and storage.

- Batch Coding and Regulatory Verification: Each package is checked for the correct batch codes, manufacturing dates, and expiry dates, ensuring regulatory compliance and full transparency.

(3) Batter Testing

- Temperature and Consistency Checks: The batter is crafted at specific chilled water temperatures (<10°C) and sieved through a 60-mesh nylon filter to eliminate any impurities, lumps, or inconsistencies. Temperature and viscosity are continually monitored to ensure smooth consistency, which is key for an even texture in every wafer.

(4) Center Cream Testing

- Viscosity Measurement: Center cream, used to fill the wafers, is checked for its flowability and consistency using a Brookfield Viscometer. This ensures the cream maintains the right thickness and spreadability, providing a balanced flavor and texture.

- Filtration: The cream is sieved through a 10-mesh sieve to ensure it is free of lumps or impurities, creating a smooth filling for the wafers.

(5) Wafer and Book Weight Control

- Weight Logging: Weight checks are performed every 10 minutes to maintain consistency in wafer and wafer book weights. Additionally, we also conduct randomized batch tests every 30 minutes. These regular checks ensure that each bar meets the expected nutritional profile and keeps the protein content accurate. 

(6) Cooling and Temperature Control

- Temperature Management: The cooling tunnel is closely monitored and maintained at 8-10°C to solidify the chocolate coating and maintain wafer integrity. This step preserves the freshness and texture of each wafer, ensuring consistent quality.

(7) Metal Detection and Contaminant Screening

- Metal Detection: Each protein wafer passes through a high-sensitivity metal detector set to identify particles down to 1.5mm for ferrous metals, 2.2mm for non-ferrous metals, and 2.5mm for stainless steel. This test is a Critical Control Point (CCP) to eliminate any potential hazards.

(8) Annual and Batch Nutritional Testing

- NABL-Certified Nutritional Testing: To maintain compliance with FSSAI standards, our wafers undergo bi-annual nutritional panel analyses by NABL-accredited labs. Each batch is additionally tested for protein content to ensure accuracy and reliability in every bar. (9) Chemical Analysis

- Moisture and Ash Content: We test for moisture levels and ash content to ensure the wafers maintain optimal freshness and flavor. Excess moisture can affect texture and shelf life, while ash content provides insights into the wafer’s mineral content.

- Protein and Fat Analysis: Protein levels are measured using the Kjeldahl method, and fats are analyzed through Soxhlet extraction. These tests confirm that each wafer contains the promised nutritional content, making it a reliable source of protein. While the FSSAI allows for a variance of up to 20%, we aim to minimise variance to a maximum of 5% in the course of production. 

(10) Microbiological Testing

- Bacterial and Pathogen Screening: Every batch goes through microbiological testing, checking for the presence of bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, as well as other harmful microorganisms. These tests follow FSSAI guidelines to guarantee product safety. The only batches of Superyou Protein Wafers that leave our factories are the ones that have passed these tests.

We have 4 additional critical control processes that each batch needs to pass before it goes into the next production stage. Should a batch fail at any CCP, it is removed from the production process entirely.
